Referring a patient to Mighty Smiles

Thank you for trusting us with your patient. Here is what we take referrals for, how to send one, and what to tell the family.

Who we see

Children and teens, and patients with special needs of any age. Dr. Amanda Campbell, DDS, and Dr. Vanna Truong, DMD, are general dentists who have built their practice around kids since 2014, in the office and in surgery-center settings, with particular experience in special needs care and in children who have not been able to complete treatment elsewhere.

What we take referrals for

  • Treatment under general anesthesia. Children who cannot safely be treated in an office setting, extensive treatment best completed in one visit, and patients with medical conditions that call for a controlled setting. How we decide and what the day looks like.
  • Special needs dentistry, children and adults. Autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. Individualized visits, laughing gas, and general anesthesia when needed. How we adapt the visit.
  • Dental trauma. Knocked-out, displaced or fractured teeth in children. Same-day spots are held for these; please have the family call as they leave your office.
  • Toothache and cavities in young or pre-cooperative children, including cases that need a slower pace, laughing gas or the Solea laser (often no needle, no drill).
  • First dental visits. By the first birthday or within six months of the first tooth. We are glad to be the first stop for your infant and toddler patients. What the first visit looks like.
  • Tongue-tie and lip-tie release. In-office laser frenectomy for infants and children with feeding, speech or sleep concerns. Signs and treatment.

We also refer out when a concern calls for a specialist, and we are happy to coordinate with your office on shared patients.

How to send a referral

  1. Complete the referral form It is one page: patient name and age, your office and phone number, the reason for referral, teeth to evaluate, and any special concerns.
  2. Send it with the family, or call us The family can bring the form to the visit. If it is urgent, or you would rather we take the details by phone, call (702) 850-8148 and we will take it from there.
  3. Radiographs As noted on the form, radiographs can be emailed to xray@mightysmileslv.com. If your office has encrypted email, please use it.
  4. We contact the family We reach out to schedule, and we tell the family what to expect. Note on the form if you would like to hear back after the visit.

What to tell the family

  • They can call or text (702) 850-8148, or send a secure visit request from our contact page.
  • Parents stay at their child’s side for every visit, and nothing happens without being explained first. Our first-visit guide walks them through the day.
  • We accept most major dental plans and check coverage before the visit. Plans we take.
  • For a child or adult with special needs, our autism visit guide and adults page explain how we adapt the visit, so the family can prepare.
